Alumnus Anupam Kishore Continues Connection with Professional Affiliation
Complementing the professional development activities that play such a large role in the Humphrey Fellowship Program is the long-term Professional Affiliation (PA). Fellows are required to devote at least six weeks of their Humphrey year to working full-time with a U.S.-based organization outside of their host universities. The goal of the Professional Affiliation is for Fellows to exchange knowledge and expertise with their American professional counterparts and hopefully continue these linkages after returning home at the end of their Fellowship year.
Anupam Kishore was a Humphrey Fellow at the University of Minnesota, Humphrey School of Public Affairs this past year and completed his PA at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. There, he shared his expertise in Indian financial affairs and, in turn, benefitted from his time at an American financial institution. Anupam has written an article that is featured in the Federal Reserve Bank’s online magazine. This article is an excellent example of the continuing linkages between Humphrey alumni and their Professional Affiliation organizations. Anupam discusses an innovative, technology-based banking model called the Business Correspondent model, which gives people in remote areas of India access to formal financial institutions.
